Fair warning: don't go here if you're in a rush. It might be a few before you actually receive your order, but if you're patient, I promise you it will be well worth the wait. Just pop in some time and take a gander. You'll see baristas moving quickly and efficiently, but with considerably more ease than at many other high-volume spots. They understand that it takes time to craft to perfection and aren't in any particular hurry to churn them out in a way that would sacrifice quality. Espresso is no joke at Breads Bakery, and neither is chocolate. (They are best known for their chocolate babka, a chewy slice of heaven that I highly suspect will be making its appearance here!)
After a few minutes I was presented with my mocha. It had a healthy amount of creamy foam on top cappuccino-style and was dusted with cocoa. I was really pleased with the temperature. Coffee shops are used to customers asking for coffee so hot it's practically scalding. Consequently, baristas sometimes preemptively overheat all beverages. Chocolate drinks require a much more moderate temperature; if it's too hot, it will actually damage the flavor of the chocolate! Luckily Breads Bakery understands this distinction, and my mocha was just right. The chocolate portion was thick and dense with a mellow toasty flavor and a hint of caramel. I thought it might be made with City Bakery hot chocolate. The taste was so similar! Both are milk chocolate-based and extremely rich. But the dregs of melted down chocolate at the bottom of my cup revealed that City Bakery couldn't be the source. Oh, the great mysteries of life!
I definitely recommend checking out Breads Bakery, especially for the mocha. They have cases and cases of goodies to choose from and I must say, the staff there are always really friendly. Check it out! Thanks for reading! Strawberry kisses :*:*:*
