Ghiradelli chocolate chips are generously proportioned and expertly crafted. About twice the size of a standard chocolate chip, Ghiradelli chocolate chips are like giant orbs of mouth-watering wonder. All Ghiradelli chips are exceptional, but my personal favorite is the 60% cacao variety. These chips have a much higher cacao content than most chocolate chips, lending themselves to a deeper, more concentrated flavor that enhances whatever they are baked into. Most chocolate chips feel like the cast-offs of the chocolate family; they're not very well made, the ingredients are cheap and the resulting chocolate overly sweet and full of unnecessary fillers. Not so with Ghiradelli, whose chocolate chips taste as though they are held to the same quality standards as every other Ghiradelli chocolate. Their flavor is intricate and layered--creamy, slightly lemony, brighter and tangier than most. They make whatever you bake more decadent, more detoxifying, (let's not forget the antioxidant benefits of dark chocolate!), and more delicious.
It may sound silly to be thankful for chocolate chips, but I truly am. I am thankful that they were invented, and I am thankful that Ghiradelli has made them so splendidly. This year I am very thankful for all of the simple pleasures in my life. Family and friends and their good health, of course, but also a cup of tea with honey and lemon, a morning spent in bed reading a great book, an impromptu dance party with friends and strangers alike, a really breezy sunny day, a handful of exceptional chocolate chips. I am also thankful to you, my readers, for your support in my chocolate adventures. Thanks for tuning in. Happy Thanksgiving!
